Qingdao Aquarium is located in the central position of Qingdao Luxun Park. It is surrounded by mountains and the sea, with a pleasant scenery. To its east is the First Bathing Beach in Qingdao and Huiquan Square. To its west are Qingdao Naval Museum and Xiaoqingdao. To its north is Xiaoyu Mountain. There are golden sandy beaches, ochre-colored rocks, red-tiled roofs among green trees, and the blue sea under the blue sky. The mountains, the sea and the city are integrated organically, making it a must-visit place for tourists coming to Qingdao.

Qingdao Aquarium started construction in January 1931 and was officially opened to the public on May 8, 1932. It is the first aquarium in China and also in Asia, and it is the cradle of China's modern aquarium industry.
